An Exercise & Fitness Programme for the Older Adult / 55 + and GP Exercise Referrals

A Typical Class:

This is a relaxed and friendly class where people are encouraged to work comfortably at their own level of fitness. Previous dance experience is not necessary and no partner is required.  Just bring a good sense of humour & a joy for music of all styles! There is a regular mix of free, imaginative movement to music; gentle mobility, incorporating muscle toning, stretching and balance work; coupled with simple creative movement tasks and easy to learn dance routines in a variety of dance styles. The aim is to bring friendship, fun and fitness together where people can work safely at the own level and leave feeling energised and refreshed from the class. The class is tailored to suit to tastes and needs of the individuals attending.

Venue: Dance Studio, Level 2, Mardyke Arena UCC, Mardyke Walk, Cork

Times:

             9.45 – 10.45 am

  Cost: €4 member / €7 non-member

Other classes and activities are also available as part of the morning programme / your entrance fee, such as, aqua-aerobics; use of the gym; walking club; indoor bowls / badminton, tennis; Yoga; and Stretch & Tone, plus a cuppa! Energise Your Life also runs on Wednesday and Thursday morning (with different dance / instructors working alternative dance genres ~ Please contact the Mardyke Arena for more information).

Please note:

  • Maximum number per dance class 20
  • Please sign in for your preferred class on arrival at reception
  • Men very welcome
  • Free parking available
  • Wheel Chair accessible / Lift and chairs available for seated movement
  • Wear loose and comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. Layers are best. 
  • Dance bare foot or wear soft soled / flat, non slip shoes such as light runners
  • Please bring water to sip if you wish
